Osborne Street – Urban Grey

Asked to refresh a run-down Victorian house into a modern family home, architect and interior design company, Dig Design, have transformed the existing space into a unified home design the melds audacious architecture with refined, subtle detail.

In the leafy, seaside suburb of Williamstown, the home seamlessly integrates organic design elements to reflect its lush surroundings, with a contemporary touch.

Cladding was key to achieving this look; the raw concrete aesthetic and subtle dimple texture of Territory Urban Grey, a contemporary cladding option, is the contrasting backdrop for the natural grain of the vertical timber fins on the first floor.

The cladding met the local council’s heritage requirements while being suitable for the busy demands of a family home. Requiring little upkeep, the finish can withstand the coastal weather conditions and allow the family to simply enjoy their beautiful home.

“We wanted to create a striking modern family home that maintained the integrity of its heritage. The cladding allowed us to bring an edgier touch that enhanced the more natural elements of the design. Being low maintenance, it’s perfect for the coastal weather and frees up more time for the family to spend loving their house,” says Lindsay, Dig Design
