Key Features
Aspect is a contemporary interpretation of horizontal shiplap cladding. The style is all about modern clean lines and architectural simplicity. The large format fibre cement boards have a smooth surface and bold square-shaped horizontal grooves.
These cladding boards are nicely suited to homes with flat and skillion roof lines. Dark shadow lines continue down external walls in a rhythm that imparts a sense of order and symmetry. They invite a contemporary black, white and grey colour palette.
Cemintel® Aspect is a crisp, precise and durable fibre cement cladding. It’s more about shape and colour than material aesthetic. It’s not the rustic timber cladding often associated with the carpenters ship-lap joint. In fact, it can evoke rendered masonry where grooves are created by raking away some of the mortar lines.

Aspect Cladding Information
The term “ship-lap” refers style of joint on the long edges of the boards. It’s a cladding system that’s similar to tongue and groove joints.
The boards have a long top lip rear on the back edge. They have a short bottom lip on the front edge. As they join, the unequal lips leave a gap that forms and elegant horizontal groove. They also create a suitable weathertight joint, with water having to flow uphill to get behind the cladding.
Aspect cladding boards are large compared to traditional shiplap board widths and weatherboard widths. The face of the boards is 260 mm high and the shiplap grooves are 16 mm wide.
This style of cladding suits contemporary suburban new home construction. The simplicity of the aesthetic works cohesively when mixed with other minimalist external cladding styles. This includes monolithic rendered walls, raw concrete look cladding and geometric express joint cladding panels.
It also suits lightweight modern coastal designs with large, protective overhanging roofs, large bay windows and generous indoor outdoor areas.
Aspect Cladding Installation
300 x 4200 x 12 mm cladding boards. The shiplap joint creates a 24 mm overlap resulting in an effective width of 276 millimeters. Each piece covers 1.16 square meters of wall.
Aspect cladding works in a range of applications on internal and external walls. The distinctive horizontal grooves bring design interest to facades and internal feature walls. The simplicity of the ship-lap construction also makes them useful for gable ends and as infill panels.
Compared with shiplap panels, ship-lap boards are easier for installers to handle. They’re lighter, easier to align and generally install with less board waste.
The cladding boards can span up to 600mm. They can be gun or hand nailed direct to timber frames or screwed onto light gauge steel frames.
Aluminium internal and external corner accessories make installation easier as well as increasing the quality of the wall finish.
Aspect cladding is made from Cemintel fibre cement that’s deemed suitable for use in applications where non-combustible materials are specified. As per the National Construction Code Volume One clause C2D1 Deemed-to-Satisfy Provisions (6) (d).
It’s also suitable for Bushfire Attack Level up to BAL-29 when constructed in accordance with Australian Standard AS3959.
